Private sale, dealer or Carease?

Every seller in Switzerland picks between the same three routes. They differ less in headline price than in how much work, risk and waiting you take on.

Selling privately

The private market pays the most, because there is no margin in between. In exchange you write the advert, pay for the listing, answer the messages, run the viewings and test drives, handle the contract and carry the payment risk.

It works well if you enjoy it and your car is easy to sell. It goes badly when the price is wrong, because the car sits online for months and you end up discounting anyway.

Trading in or selling to a dealer

This is the fast, effortless route: one appointment, one offer, done. The offer is lower by design, because the dealer has to prepare, guarantee and resell the car at a profit.

Watch trade-ins in particular. A generous sounding trade-in figure often just moves money away from the discount on the new car, so compare the whole deal, not one number in it.

Selling with Carease

We aim at the private market price while doing the private market work for you. You get a selling price within 24 hours, complete the mandate online, then keep driving your car while we photograph, check and advertise it.

We screen the buyers, run the viewings, handle the contract and secure the payment. Nothing to pay upfront, the Success fee only applies on a completed sale, and payment within 5 days.

Compare the number that reaches your account

Take the realistic sale price for each route, subtract listing costs, preparation, an inspection if you need one and any fee, then count the weeks of your own time. That is the only fair comparison.

A high advertised price that never sells is worth less than a realistic one that does.

Let us handle the whole sale.

Get your selling price within 24 hours, keep driving your car, and we take care of the listing, the buyers and the paperwork.

Frequently asked questions

Is it better to sell a car privately or to a dealer in Switzerland?

Privately you normally get more but you carry the work and the risk. A dealer pays less and is instant. The right answer depends on what your time and certainty are worth.

How much less does a dealer pay for a used car?

There is no fixed figure, but a dealer buys at wholesale level because they must prepare, guarantee and resell the car at a profit, so the offer sits clearly below a private sale price.

What does Carease cost?

Nothing upfront. We calculate the competitive market price at which your car is advertised and our Success fee is already included in it, so the selling price we agree with you is what you receive.

Can I keep driving my car while Carease sells it?

Yes. Your car stays with you and you keep using it. We only arrange a handover once it is sold.
