Photos and advert that sell faster
Two cars with the same specification and the same price sell at very different speeds, and the difference is usually the advert. Buyers decide from the pictures whether the car was looked after.

Prepare before you shoot
Wash the car, clean the wheels and the glass, and empty the interior completely, including the boot and the door pockets. Remove the stickers, the phone holder and the air freshener.
Then find a quiet spot with an unremarkable background: an empty car park, a plain wall, no other cars, no bins. The car should be the only thing to look at.
Shoot in the right light
Early morning, late afternoon or an evenly overcast sky all work. Harsh midday sun leaves hard shadows and blown highlights, and a dark car photographed at night looks like a car with something to hide.
Hold the phone at roughly waist height, keep the whole car in the frame with a little space around it, and take the wide shots from a three quarter angle at each corner rather than flat from the side.
Cover what buyers ask about
Alongside the exterior angles, show the front seats, the rear seats, the boot, the dashboard with the odometer readable, the engine bay, the wheels and the tyre tread.
Photograph the honest details too: a scratch, a kerbed rim, a worn seat bolster. Showing them removes the suspicion that something worse is hidden, and it stops price haggling at the viewing.
Write the description as an answer sheet
Lead with what a buyer filters on: year, mileage, gearbox, drivetrain, fuel, inspection status and service history. Then list the options that actually cost money, and state any known fault plainly.
Skip the enthusiasm and the capital letters. Precise, plain facts read as trustworthy, and they attract buyers who are ready to buy instead of ready to negotiate.

Get my selling priceFrequently asked questions
How many photos should a car advert have?
Enough to answer the obvious questions, usually somewhere between 15 and 25: every exterior angle, the interior, the boot, the odometer, the engine bay, the wheels and any damage.
Should I show the damage on my car?
Yes. Buyers assume anything not shown is being hidden, and a visible scratch costs far less than a wasted viewing or a price negotiation on the spot.
Do I need a professional photographer?
No. A clean car, a plain background and soft daylight are what matter. A modern phone is entirely enough.
Does the advert really change how fast a car sells?
It changes who contacts you. Complete pictures and precise facts bring buyers who are already convinced, which is why well presented cars spend less time online.
